On Thursday 22nd October, we are having our first intra-tournament of the academic year. It will be Dodgeball! Can we ask that your child comes to school in their full PE kit tomorrow - if they still have their coloured PE polo shirt could they wear those please as they will be representing their colour team. Moving forward, we will be getting coloured bands/bibs to represent their team as more children purchase the new white PE shirt. Thanks for your continued support!

Dear Parents/Carers, We have been invited to attend the Remembrance Parade & Service on Sunday 8th November at St Wilfrid's Church, Alford, leaving Safelincs car park to parade through the town prior to this. If any families wish to join us to represent Alford Primary School, we will be meeting at 9:25am at the Safelincs car park on West Street. The parade will move off at approx 9.40am and the Church service is at 10.00am. Laying of Wreaths is at 11.00am. Please note that children attending the parade and service remain the responsibility of their parents/carers at all times and must be supervised throughout the event. Due to a plumbing issue, the school isn't able to open any toilets today. As a result of this, unfortunately school will be closed today. We will keep you informed about arrangements for tomorrow. In order to ensure the safety of all, please can we remind you that you MUST pre book places, on the shop, prior to the day you wish your children to attend. There is a maximum number of places. Dear Parents/Carers, Just a few reminders ahead of our Halloween discos: Please ensure payments are made in full, before the 21st October. Children should come to school with their outfit in a named bag. They will be given time to get changed before the disco begins. All children must be collected promptly at 5pm (unless they are attending afterschool club after). Please enter from the main hall external doors, children will be seated in their classes in the hall. Once you have collected your child, please exit through the main office doors. As you are probably aware, Friday 9th October marks World Mental Health Day. To recognise this we are having our own Be Happy Be Healthy Day at school. We would like to invite the children to come to school dressed in yellow – this may be as much or as little yellow as you’d like OR in their PE kit. Thank you for helping us to support this day dedicated to happiness, optimism, and the brightness of yellow! Caroline Bailey

Dear Parents and carers, You may be aware that from September 2026 schools are required to adhere to more stringent food nutrition standards. Our school menus are carefully planned across a week to ensure these guidelines are met. As such, we are no longer able to order packed lunches on the same day via school office. There is a new daily sandwich option, each day is different with a specific sandwich filling, together with a choice of a pudding. We would encourage parents to book this through our normal school meals menus if a pack up is the preferred option. Where there is a genuine emergency, school will of course do everything they can do to help. What does not constitute an emergency are situations like a child deciding they do not like the hot food or sandwich filling option ordered and/or forgotten lunches or lunches not ordered in line with the systems in place. If and when these situations occur, school will call parents and ask them to bring a packed lunch to school. We appreciate this is a change to services we could previously offer.
