What a wonderful week we have had at GBA! We have celebrated our Top Dojo Award winners and those who have demonstrated our school value of Hope. 💛 We have also loved sharing the successes of our children in the Summer Reading Challenge and celebrating their achievements in football. 📚⚽ This week, we have also appointed our Junior Online Safety Officers, Junior Road Safety Officers, Play Leaders, Wellbeing Champions and GBA Champions. We are so proud of all those who have taken on these important roles! It has been wonderful getting to know the members of our House Teams, and we are looking forward to an exciting year filled with teamwork, fun and plenty of opportunities to shine. 🌟 Thank you for your continued support as we work together to nurture confident, caring and courageous children.

A huge thank you to every those who attended the PTFA meeting last night. It was wonderful to see parents and supporters coming together to help shape the future of our PTFA. 💚 During the meeting, we were able to nominate members for the PTFA committee roles. To formally ratify these nominations, please join the PTFA Committee WhatsApp group using the attached QR code. 📱 The poll will close on Monday 21st September at 9:00am. Following this, the minutes of the meeting will be made available. We also shared the PTFA Constitution during the meeting. A copy is attached for everyone to read and familiarise themselves with. The Constitution is linked to our membership of Parentkind, the national charity that supports PTAs and helps guide us through the relevant processes and procedures. We would encourage all parents and carers to complete the Free School Meals (FSM) and PP application form, even if you are sure whether you are not eligible. You may be surprised by what you could be entitled to, and the only way to find out is to complete the form and have your eligibility checked. There is no cost to applying, so take a few minutes to complete the form and see what support you may be entitled to.

What a wonderful first week at GBA! We are incredibly proud of the effort, resilience and determination you have shown. You should be proud of yourselves! ⭐ And finally, a fantastic celebration for Class 3 and EYFS, who have both achieved 100% attendance since the start of the academic year! 🎉👏 What an amazing achievement! Well done to everyone who has achieved, persevered, participated and made us proud this week. Showing our GBA 5Rs in everything you do. 🏆 Keep sharing your successes! We have been advised that Leagate Road will be closed from 14th–27th September while works are carried out on behalf of Quickline to install new fibre broadband as part of the UK Government’s Project Gigabit. Due to the narrow width of Leagate Road, a road closure is required to allow the work to be completed safely. Access for residents living on Leagate Road will be maintained at all times with an onsite gateman available to manage access. For everyone else, the diversion route will be via Gipsey Drove, Main Road (B1192) and Hundlehouse Lane, and vice versa. Please allow additional time for journeys to and from school during this period and plan your route accordingly. Thank you for your understanding and patience while these works are carried out.

As we begin the new school year, please take a few minutes to read the attached poster, which summarises some important reminders around medication, allergy safety and safer eating. These arrangements reflect the latest government guidance, including Benedict’s Law – the DfE Allergy Safety in Schools statutory guidance (2026) and the updated EYFS safer eating guidance. Our aim is simply to ensure that we are doing everything we can to keep all children safe, healthy and included. Please pay particular attention to the requirements around bringing medication into school, completing medication forms, allergy information and the preparation of snacks and packed lunches. We appreciate that some of this may be a change for families, but working together helps us create the safest possible environment for every child. In addition, we have created additional intervention space to support our children with their learning and provide even more opportunities for focused support. We cannot wait to share these changes with you and show you how we have been developing our school environment over the coming weeks.
