🏴 TOMORROW 15.7.26 🏴
Gipsey Bridge Academy
Come on England! ⚽🏴
To help cheer on England in the semi-finals of the World Cup on Wednesday, we would love the children to come to school wearing a red or white top, or their England football kit if they have one.
Throughout the day, we will be creating and sending our own good luck messages to the England team and celebrating this exciting occasion together.
We can’t wait to see everyone showing their support. Come on England! ❤️🤍

Appointments.
Gipsey Bridge Academy
Just a quick reminder that if your child has an appointment during the school day, we'd really appreciate it if you could let the school office know as soon as possible. This allows us to record the absence correctly in line with Department for Education (DfE) attendance guidance.
If you could also send us some evidence of the appointment, such as a screenshot of the appointment confirmation, a letter, or a text message from the provider, we'd be very grateful. This can simply be emailed to the school office, allowing us to update our records and make your child's teacher aware of the appointment.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with the school office.

Sports Day Update- 9.7.2026 Reminder
Gipsey Bridge Academy
We are looking forward to our Sports Day on Thursday 9th July. Due to the current hot weather forecast, we have made a few changes to ensure the wellbeing of children, staff and spectators while still allowing everyone to enjoy the event.
Gates will open at 1:00pm, with Sports Day starting promptly at 1:15pm. The event is expected to last around one hour.
Please note the following arrangements:
-The picnic lunch has been cancelled and children will eat indoors as normal. If you did not order a school meal due to the planned picnic, please send your child with a packed lunch.
-Children will take part in 2–3 races rather than the usual five to reduce the time spent in the sun.
-At the end of Sports Day, parents and carers may take their child(ren) home. Children will first return to their classrooms to collect their belongings before being dismissed from their usual collection points. Children attending Wraparound Care, or with alternative collection arrangements, will remain in school with staff as usual.
-JB Sports After School Club will not be running on Thursday.
-As in previous years, children will be seated on the right-hand side of the field, with parents and carers seated on the left-hand side. This arrangement helps us maintain our safeguarding procedures and ensures children remain settled and supervised throughout the event. We know the children will be delighted to see your smiles, waves and hear your enthusiastic cheers as they take part!
Please ensure your child:
-Brings a named sun hat.
-Brings a named water bottle.
-Has sunscreen applied before arriving at school.
Our PTFA will be selling refreshments before and during the event, and we appreciate your support.
Thank you for your understanding and support. While we are disappointed that Sports Day cannot go ahead exactly as planned, these changes will ensure the children can still enjoy the event while keeping their health, safety and wellbeing our priority.

Upcoming Lincolnshire County Council Roadworks
Gipsey Bridge Academy
We would like to make you aware of some upcoming roadworks that may affect travel to and from school.
Lincolnshire County Council has notified us that essential carriageway reconstruction works will be taking place on Castledyke Bank and Leagate Road, Gipsey Bridge.
Works Schedule:
Castledyke Bank (from Sharp's Bridge to south of Canister Lane junction): Monday 13th July for approximately 10 working days, between 7:30am and 5:00pm.
Leagate Road (from south of Canister Lane junction to Gipsey Bridge): Monday 27th July for approximately 6 working days, during the school holidays.
The roadworks expected on Leagate Road are during the school holidays so parents and carers should still be able to access the school site as normal. However, if your usual journey includes the affected sections of Castledyke Bank, you may need to allow additional travel time and plan an alternative route.
The dates provided by Lincolnshire County Council are subject to weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We wanted to share this information in advance so that families can plan their journeys where necessary.
This week…
Gipsey Bridge Academy
Welcome back to another week!
With temperatures now returning to what is more typical for this time of year, we will be resuming our usual school uniform expectations.
We will continue to monitor the weather forecast throughout the week, as temperatures are expected to rise again next week. We will also be reviewing planned events, including Sports Day and the rescheduled cricket competition, to ensure they can take place safely. Any decisions or changes will be communicated via ParentHub as soon as possible.
As always, the safety and wellbeing of our children remains our priority, and we appreciate your continued support and understanding.
Although the weather is expected to be cooler this week, please continue to send your child to school with:
● Sunscreen applied before school (where possible)
● A named sun hat
● A named water bottle
Thank you, and we hope you all have a cooler and enjoyable week.
Important Information- Friday 26th June
Gipsey Bridge Academy
In light of the continued hot weather and the forecast temperatures for Friday 26th June, which are expected to peak during the afternoon, we would like to offer parents the option of collecting their child early at 1:15pm.
Current government guidance does not require schools to close during periods of hot weather, and school will remain fully open with a normal afternoon timetable in place. We recognise that many of our families have work commitments and may not be able to collect early. Therefore, children who remain in school will continue to be cared for as usual, with measures in place to help keep them comfortable, including access to drinking water, shaded areas, and adapted activities where appropriate.
However, we are also mindful that the children have experienced a prolonged period of high temperatures, and a weather warning remains in place. As a result, we feel it is appropriate to offer families the flexibility of an early collection should they wish to do so.
If you would like to collect your child at 1:15pm, please inform the school office by 10:00am on Friday so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
News Update
Gipsey Bridge Academy
Hi everyone,
Due to the Trust's risk assessment and the current high temperatures, we have cancelled the after-school sports activities and celebration assembly.
Instead, pupils will celebrate with their classmates in their classrooms.
PE lessons will still take place but will be adapted and modified to ensure they are safe and appropriate for the weather conditions.
Thank you for your understanding.

Sun Safety Reminder
Gipsey Bridge Academy
With the hot weather continuing this week, please ensure your child arrives at school with sunscreen already applied. Children may bring their own named sunscreen to school so that it can be reapplied throughout the day if needed. Please remember that we are unable to share sunscreen between children.
All children should also bring:
• A named sun hat
• A water bottle, which can be refilled throughout the day
If you feel your child would be more comfortable in their PE kit during the hot weather, they may attend school in their PE kit for the remainder of the week.
Please be assured that the school has put appropriate measures in place to help keep children safe and comfortable. Additional fans have been provided in classrooms, blinds are being used to reduce heat gain, and rooms are being ventilated wherever possible. We are also adapting activities throughout the day and continually assessing conditions to make decisions that are in the best interests of the children.
Thank you for your support in helping us keep everyone safe during this period of very warm weather.
Hot Weather Precautions & Reminders ☀️
Gipsey Bridge Academy
With temperatures forecast to remain high, we are implementing precautions to ensure all children stay safe and comfortable.
Sun Protection: Please apply a high-factor sunscreen (SPF 30+) before the school day begins. If your child brings sunscreen, ensure it is clearly labelled with their name and that they can apply it independently. Due to allergies, children cannot share sunscreen.
Sun Hats: Please send your child with a wide-brimmed sun hat or cap for outdoor play and breaks.
Hydration: Pack a reusable water bottle. We will encourage regular water breaks throughout the day.
Outdoor Activities: We will be limiting strenuous outdoor play during playtimes, lunchtimes and PE.
Classrooms: We will be keeping the classrooms as cool as possible.
We will closely monitor the children for signs of heat exhaustion or overheating. For further advice on keeping your child safe, refer to the NHS Guidance on Hot Weather or the UKHSA Beat the Heat Guide.
Thank you for your cooperation.
